This shooting occurred in a Target store while the suspect was having an AR-15-style rifle and more firearms with him. The person or officer who shot Jones was a 20 years old veteran named Brian Vanderheiden. At the time police mentioned that they are investigating the personals of the shooter Jones and it is unclear at teh moment what the motive behind the shooting might have been.

A video released showcased that when the shooting occurred, people began running inside the stores. One of the visitors of the store added that she was running when she was in the fitting room and hide inside it to save themselves. The store employee added that she helped others to hide taking whatever they had to hide behind it including stools and chairs as well. One of the shoppers added that she thought it was her last moment of life when she heard the shooting.
