Amelia was born on July 25th, 1917 in Stepney, London. Amelia’s father, Henry King served as a firefighter in the merchant navy while her brother was in the royal navy. She used to make a living by making and selling fancy boxes before the trauma of World War II started. During the reign of World War II, Amelia volunteered to serve in the women’s land army in 1943. During her visit to the women’s land army, she faced absolute discrimination because of her skin tone.
