Reports have confirmed that the case which occurred back in 1983 is now getting investigated again after a clue related to this came up. Two women in 1983 were found dead and the case was nowhere getting solved as the women who were found dead were not related to each other DNA tests concluded early in the 2000s that the suspect, in this case, is the same because it had some DNA samples from the same man. James Ramer, Toronto police chief added that Jospeh Geroge Sutherland who is from Moosonee, Ontario is the one who is suspected in this case. Police also added that they arrested the suspect in the murder of Erin Gilmour and Susan tice in 1983 and he was also charged with first-degree murder as well.

What Happened With Erin Gilmour?

Police also revealed that the women who were found dead were nowhere closer to each other. Gilmour was a young 22 years old woman and a fashion designer, while on the other hand, Tice was a 45 years old mother who was mother of four and had a master’s degree in social work and worked for children’s welfare. Erin’s brother who awaited justice for nearly four decades said that they are all happy because finally the culprit is getting arrested and the vicious murderer of Erin and Susan was caught. He also added that he waited for this day of the culprit getting caught for almost his entire life now.

In 2000 the genetic samples of this case were collected and the genetic samples got tested in 2019. T came out that the suspect in the two cases was the same and that they have resulted cross-referenced which resulted in the same. Apart from that, the samples of the two family trees were crosslinked and it came out that a Sutherland was closely related to the two women who were found dead. Police then issued a warrant and arrested Sutherland in this case. After Sutherland was discovered they cross match the DNA with the ones found during the 1983 murder and it matched stating that the man was none other than Sutherland who killed Erin and Tice.

Earlier as there was no suspect related to families and Sutherland was not related in any of the two cases there was an arrest made but as now the DNA cases come closer they have finally arrested him. Police also have said that they are connected Sutherland to some other cases as well which are unsolved and they will find out if he is connected to some other cases or not. Sutherland was arrested on the 24th of November 2022, Thursday in Moosonee. Officer Smith added that at the time when the crime was committed. Sutherland was living in Toronto and now Sutherland is asked to appear in court on the 9th of December 2022.
