Who Was Hardeep Singh Nijjar?
Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistan supremacist living in Canada, was gunned down in the parking structure of Surrey Gurdwara Singh in Toronto. He has long been active in anti-India movements and had previously sponsored a separatist referendum in Toronto.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar Wanted
Nijjar was the chairman of the Gurdwara Sikh Hindu temple in Surrey Town and a member of the proscribed separatist movement Sikhs for Freedom (SFJ). Nijjar was designated a terrorist by India’s government and was sought by the Central Bureau Of Investigation (NIA).
Hardeep Singh Nijjar Charges Explained
In India, he had several ongoing charges regarding him. Importantly, the NIA had already submitted a criminal complaint accusing Nijjar of reportedly plotting terror operations. According to IANS, India has also requested that Canadian investigators take action regarding him for purportedly being engaged in terrorist actions in Punjab.
