He was best known for hosting ABS-CBN’s “Superstar” which he hosted for three decades. Born in Manila on November 12, 1932, Puno is hailed as the first Filipino to host a game show in the country. Puno had also been a voice actor and an anchor for several ABS-CBN programs. He was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) in 2006.  His death was confirmed by his son Roy Puno Jr., who posted it on Twitter.
