The 35 years old man was identified as Jonathan Jordan Young who was from NSW and he was in New Zealand to enjoy a vacation.

Young was in New Zealand just three days before he drowned and passed away, and he was travelling with his fiancé. While this is not the first time that a case like this appeared, last year over 50 cases appeared in New Zealand, while this year last week on the 13th of January 2023, a man named Linkin Kisling passed away after he tried to save him 10 years old son.
A new sign was implanted near the river and the sign was out to avoid any other case. This sign board was placed as multiple lake hazards, which was ordered by the Queenstown lakes district council on Friday after the case of Young’s disappearance occurred on Thursday. While on the other hand, police were continuously patrolling the place and they also warned the public as well.
Locals were upset about the demise that occurred and they also were cautious as well. Niki Gladding who is a resident of teh area added that people come there and do not understand the risk involved in the place. Before the officials made a sign of the dangers that were involved at the lake, the locals who were aware of the deaths and the number of incidents occurring there, warned the visitors about the dangers of the place and they were also using handwritten boards near the river. The locals also wrote no swimming sign there as well. A public meeting was held on Friday in which it was determined what could have been done for the safety of the public.
