Victims Of Japan Plane Crash: A Japanese Airlines’ Airbus 30 crashed with a Japanese Coast Guard aircraft on Tuesday, Jan 2, 2023.  The JAL plane took off from Shin Chitose Airport, Sapporo, and flew to Haneda. The Japanese transport minister Tetsue Saito let out a statement that all the 379 passengers from the JAL plane were set free from the fire engulfing the plane, but unfortunately, 5 from the crew of 6 on the smaller aircraft died. The plane skidded down the tarmac shortly before 6.00 p.m., Tuesday, shows the live footage. Images and videos of the crash went viral on social media.

Those uncovered how the passengers screamed and shouted while getting out of the airbus. They all escaped via the evacuation side. With 5 people reported dead there were 14 people injured. The injuries do not seem to be very serious, reported the Japanese Airlines. This includes the captain of the Coast Guard, a 39-year-old comrade, who was the only one to escape among the 6 crew members!

The identity of the 5 members reported dead is yet to be revealed. Until now, the plane’s condition and the passengers’ overall survival counts are only uncovered! The JAL Japanese plane was initially attempting to land normally until it crashed with the coastal guard’s Bombardier-built-dash-8 maritime patrol plane on the runway reported by the ministry to the press. There were no engine or related problems witnessed, they added. 

Niigata on Japan’s west coast was caught by a powerful earthquake on New Year’s Day, and the Coast Guard says that the plane was heading to Niigata to supply aid to the people affected over there. The earthquake killed at least 55 members as per records. 

The JAL’s official explained to the press that the plane had received proper permission before landing. Exchanges with flight control are still under investigation, the official added. 

Safety Measures Difficulties

The chaos by passengers reported that the back and the middle door were not able to open and they were set free from the front. It was dark as the fire was crowned with intensity after the landing, they added. One of the female passengers reported that the plane was getting hot and she lost her faith in getting out alive! But within a count of 20 minutes, all the passengers were set free!

The transport minister announced that the crash is under investigation by the police and the aviation safety investigators until Haneda is closed. He also added that it may open by Wednesday, Jan 3, 2023, or sooner!

By saving all the passengers from the burning plane Japan batches itself with pride on aviation safety. Robert Sumwalt the CBS News Transport Safety Analyst and former National Transportation Safety Board told the press that the design of the plane’s sidewall was built in such a way that it would withstand the fire as compared to the previous design. This new plane model’s interior was one of the major factors for today’s survival of the passengers he added. 

It was just the second day of 2024 and Japan’s already more than halfway there to hit the century after losing 60 of its men starting from day 1 earthquake till today’s air crash! Still, there’s hope glittering in Japan official’s statements!
