George was born on the 28th of June 1926 in Cainsville, Missouri. He was the son of a schoolteacher and his mother was a musician while she also worked on various art pieces and also drew cartoons as well. William, George’s father became the administrator of a school in Fairfax, Missouri and George used to attend the same school. George attended Corcoran College of Art and Design, Chicago academy of fine arts, school of visual arts and also Adelphi College but he did not graduate from any of these, instead, he went for just the classes which were often confusing for many people. George was ordered to be a cartoonist at Leatherneck and alter went for the Marine force in the Korean war.

After returning from the war, George again joined the leather neck cartoonist job. Later he moved to New York where he struggled as s cartoonist, eventually getting married and then becoming an art director at the magazine. In 1956he worked as a comic strip spot cartoonist. After he got famous for getting work as s cartoonist in the New Yorker, George went on to become a permeant cartoonist in the newspaper and joined the team. George used to describe most of his cartons from the household things that he used to see in his house and drew them. George later adapted a car in his drawing that he put in his real life and drew the scenes in his comics.

George won many awards in his lifetime and also won many honours a swell. He won the National Cartoonist Society award for his work in the gag cartoon back in 1993. He also won the Milton Caniff award in 2010 which was a lifetime achievement award and he also won the Gag Cartoon award back in 1993. George lived in Stony Brook for many with his wife Dione. Later he moved to Brooklyn and continued there as an artist where he sued to draw cartoons. After getting to live in Brooklyn, George started working with various local artists and he used to work with them and collected various local artwork as well.

George passed away on the 1st of November 2022, while he was at his house, His daughter, who is his only child said in a statement that George passed away due to health complications that he suffered from dementia. George’s artworks which were of Pen and paper itself were collected in dozens and in many books as well. His artworks which were collected are sold in galleries for exhibition. At the age of 90s he slowed down but until then worked for spreading works of art and used to speak at various schools, colleges and museums as well. George was 96 years old at the time of his death.
