Brian Koppelman, son of Charles added to his Instagram and other social media as well and revealed that his father passed away at 82. Brian added that although he wants to write many things about his father, at the moment he wanted to say that he loves his father from the bottom of his heart and that he taught Brain everything thing that matters to him. Lastly, Brian ended his post by writing that Charles, his father loved life as he wanted to and gained many things. Brain revealed that Charles was surrounded by his family and his loved ones as well in his last moments. In the last line, Brian added that he loves his father, he also shared a picture of him and his father Charles on his Instagram post.

Charles began as a singer and songwriter as well and he later joined the legendary Aldon Music staff which was at that time under the guidance of Don Kirshner, Carole King, Neil Sedaka, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil. In 1970 Charles worked with CBS records and rose to fame. Michaela Bolton and New Kids on the block were some of the rosters that were included at the time when SBK was lading and also purchased the rights from CBS. Later when EMI purchased its right, Pump Up the jam was one of the selling labels that were a hit.

In 1991 Charles became the CEO and chairman of EMI records of the North American group and CEO as well. This was continuous until 1997. After a gap of four-five years, Charles returned back to the music industry and became the chairman of Steve Madden Ltd in 2000. He was also involved in a fraud case as well for which he spent his time dealing with charges of security fraud in prison. Charles later moved to join various other music boards in 2011 but before that, he became the chairman of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in the late 2010s.
