Uche passed away this Wednesday the 25th of January 2023, while it was mentioned that he passed away after a brief illness. It was also informed by Uche’s son E Tok announced his father’s demise news and said that his father went through multiple treatments to recover but failed.

He also added that his father took multiple treatments as he suffered multiple cardiac arrests before he was admitted and he also has been absent from public presence since November of 2022 due to his health conditions.
Who Was Uche Ikonne?
Uche whose real name is Uchenna Ikonne was a Nigerian professor of optometry while he also became the 7th Substantive Vice-chancellor of the Abia state university in 2015. Before that, he served as the rector of the Abia State polytechnic Anba mission which was held between 2014-2015. He was also the gubernatorial candidate of the people’s democratic party in Abia State. Speaking of Uche’s education that he attended Ngwa High School and studied optometry at Manila Central University, which is in the Philippines.

Peter Obi also expressed his concerns online and wrote, that he was shocked to hear about the demise of Oche and said that Uche was someone who was a sincere commiserate of the Abia State and also handled teh entire people of the Abia state.
Uche also directed the presidential rally in the State which is held on the 31st of January 2023 and is postponed now. Peter while speaking about this rally added that the rally that they held is now postponed to the 4th of February 2023, while the family, friends, followers, and loved ones will be allowed for one week to mourn the demise of their loved leader, Uche.
Di State governor, Okezio Ikpeazu Don has also sent his condolences and said that the followers and other leaders are asked to calm down. On the other hand, it was mentioned to the leaders and citizens that with a heavy heart, he mentions the demise of Uche. He added that they condole with the family, and the loved ones of Uche while they pray that Uche rests in peace as well. He also mentioned that in honour of Uche, he will be asking the flags to be downed and all the campaign works will be cancelled as well.
