Who was Naoko Takemaru?
Naoko Takemaru was a 69-year-old woman who recently lost her life She was the associate professor of Japanese Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She is the third victim who lost her life in the UNLV mass shooting case which happened on 6th December 2023, Wednesday. She was a well-respected person. Dr. Takemaru received the William Morris Award for Excellence in Teaching from UNLV’s College of Liberal Arts and oversaw the Japanese Studies Program. She taught various courses on Japanese language, culture, and business.

Alongside Naoko Takemaru, 2 more people lost their lives in the recent UNLV mass shooting case. Those 2 people have been identified, a 64-year-old man whose name is Chan Jan Jerry who was a professor at UNLV, and a 39-year-old woman whose name was Patricia Navarro Velez who was an associate professor at UNLV.
