Dr. Gao Yaojie, who founded and exposed the Epidemic of AIDS in rural China, passed away at the age of 95 years. Gao is a well-known Chinese doctor, gynaecologist and AIDS activist. She has made her name and recognition for exposing an AIDS epidemic that was spreading across the whole of rural China because of the reckless blood collection in the late 1990s. Dr Gao Yaojie was a well-known Chinese doctor and gynaecologist who had a long-term career as a successful doctor. She got to fame after she exposed the Epidemic of AIDS that was spreading all across the poor farmers of China and its cause was the reckless blood collection. She raised her voice but was pressured by the government. AIDS has taken more than ten thousand lives and she had to leave China forever.

She passed away on 10th December 2023 at the age of 95 years in her home in New York City US. The cause of her death is not defined but it is considered as an age factor as she was 95 years old and her death was due to natural causes. It was sorrowful to hear the news of death that was announced by her professor Andrew J. Nathan who is a scholar of Chinese politics at Columbia University and managed her affairs in the United States. 

Dr. Gao Yaojie Life And Career

Dr. Gao Yaojie was born in 1927 in Cao County, Shandong. She was a doctor specializing in ovarian gynaecology and gynecologic tumours. She completed her graduation from Henan University in 1954. She worked from 1975-1990 in the Henan Chinese Medicine Hospital as a gynaecologist and professor. 

In the 1990s Dr Gao Yaojie came into the limelight for her work and research against HIV AIDS which was spreading all around rural China at that time. Henan was the centre of that bloodhead scandal where the types of blood from the paid donors were recklessly stocked after removing its plasma causing the spread of HIV across the rural areas.

She became the voice of AIDS prevention and also exposed the Epidemic of AIDS. She had taken specialities in AIDS prevention and later started teaching other rural societies about HIV and how it spreads. She also started treating AIDS-affected people and showing her brief concern for this dangerous disease.
